Robust rye grain meets decadent confectionery richness in this 7.1-year cask-strength release from Rare Character. Bottled at an uncompromised 116.86 proof, the secondary maturation in maple wood softens the rye's sharp herbal edge into a velvety balance of sweet sap and deep peppery oak. It is an exceptional pour tailored for collectors seeking layered complexity and full-bodied warmth.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich Vermont maple syrup and candied pecans harmonize with assertive rye spices, charred oak, toasted marshmallow, and fragrant cinnamon stick.
Palate: A viscous, oily mouthfeel bursting with dark brown sugar, maple candy, and baked orchard fruit, swiftly countered by bold cracked black pepper, clove, and rich cacao.
Finish: Long and warming, tapering from sweet maple glaze and pipe tobacco to lingering dry oak tannins, leather, and cooling herbal mint.
