Wild Turkey
Wild Turkey 1855 Reserve (1992) 110 Proof 750ml
Pickup currently not available
Preceding the modern Rare Breed line, this 1992 vintage release of Wild Turkey 1855 Reserve represents one of the distillery's earliest and most revered barrel-proof expressions. Uncut and bottled at a robust 110 proof from Batch Nº W-T-10-92, it showcases the pinnacle of dusty-era Russell distillation with concentrated layers of dark caramel, rich tobacco, and seasoned oak.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Deep antique oak, rich pipe tobacco, and dark molasses greet the nose, followed by macerated cherries, orange marmalade, toasted pecan, and unmistakable vintage Turkey herbal rye spice.
Palate: Viscous and oily with robust heat, coating the palate in layers of caramelized brown sugar, dark cocoa, sweet leather, ground clove, and seasoned barrel char balanced by a pleasant citrus zest.
Finish: Long, warm, and lingering with persistent notes of dry oak tannins, warming cinnamon stick, espresso bean, and old honeyed leather.
About the Distillery
Perched on the bluffs above the Kentucky River in Lawrenceburg, Wild Turkey has been crafting Kentucky Straight Bourbon since 1869 (formally adopting the Wild Turkey brand in 1940). Guided for decades by legendary Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, the distillery is renowned for its low barrel entry proof, traditional high-rye mashbill, and deep #4 'alligator char' barrels, producing notoriously bold, full-bodied whiskeys.
