Tasting Notes
Nose: A complex bouquet erupts with rich sherry sweetness, dark dried fruits like figs and raisins, intertwined with a distinct maritime brininess and a gentle wisp of Islay peat smoke. Underlying notes of dark chocolate, leather, and a hint of roasted nuts emerge, hinting at the sherry butt influence.
Palate: The palate immediately delivers a bold and vibrant experience. Sweet and savory elements dance across the tongue, featuring sticky toffee pudding, candied orange peel, and dark berries. This sweetness is beautifully balanced by a peppery spice, sea salt, and a lingering, earthy peat character that is woven rather than dominant. A creamy, oily mouthfeel coats the palate, showcasing the non-chill filtration.
Finish: The finish is long, warming, and exceedingly satisfying. The peat smoke gently re-emerges alongside a fading sweetness of dark fruit and a hint of coffee. There's a persistent salinity and a pleasant dryness that invites another sip, leaving an impression of aged oak and a subtle nuttiness.
