Tasting Notes
Nose: A sophisticated and inviting bouquet of caramelized sugar and rich vanilla bean, layered with subtle hints of dried fruit – think fig and apricot. A gentle spice, reminiscent of polished oak and a whisper of cinnamon, wafts through, intertwined with a faint, delightful orange zest.
Palate: The entry is beautifully smooth, delivering a harmonious blend of honeyed sweetness and robust oak. Mid-palate, notes of dark chocolate and toasted nuts emerge, balanced by a peppery kick that isn't overpowering but provides a lovely warmth. There's an underlying stone fruit character, akin to ripe cherry, mingling with a touch of leather and a creamy mouthfeel.
Finish: Long and satisfying, the finish lingers with a pleasant warmth of baking spices – nutmeg and allspice – slowly fading into a persistent vanilla and a dry, tannic oak. A final echo of sweet tobacco and a whisper of dark caramel leaves a memorable impression.
About the Distillery
The Blanton Distilling Company, today known as Buffalo Trace Distillery, holds a rich history in American whiskey production. Colonel Albert B. Blanton, a pivotal figure, is credited with conceptualizing and popularizing single barrel bourbon. Blanton's was the first single barrel bourbon introduced to the market in 1984, breaking from traditional batching methods and setting a new standard for premium American whiskey.
