Tasting Notes

Nose: A beautifully complex and inviting nose. Initial waves of salty sea air and dried seaweed notes mingle with rich dried fruits – think figs, dates, and candied orange peel. Underlying layers of honey, roasted nuts, and a subtle wisp of fragrant peat smoke emerge, alongside hints of leather and dark chocolate. A delicate floral sweetness, like heather, also presents itself.

Palate: The palate is remarkably smooth and full-bodied, delivering a luxurious texture. Sweetness leads with golden syrup and honey, quickly balanced by a maritime brininess and a gentle, warming spice – nutmeg, cinnamon, and a hint of white pepper. The dried fruit character from the nose deepens, accompanied by dark chocolate, espresso, and a faint, elegant smokiness that integrates seamlessly with the rich oak influence. A buttery mouthfeel with a touch of citrus zest keeps it vibrant.

Finish: Long, warming, and profoundly satisfying. The finish lingers with a delightful interplay of sweet oak, subtle peat, and a persistent salty caramel note. Dried fruit and a faint bitterness of dark cocoa fade slowly, leaving a pleasant warmth and a whisper of distant bonfire smoke. It’s remarkably clean for its age, inviting contemplation.
