Tasting Notes
Nose: A sophisticated and inviting bouquet. Initial impressions are of dried apricots and candied orange peel, intermingling with delicate floral notes of jasmine and honeysuckle. Beneath this, a subtle rich vanilla and toasted almond emerge, hinting at well-integrated oak. There’s a touch of baking spice – perhaps nutmeg and a whisper of ginger – adding depth and complexity, all underpinned by a characteristic rancio from extended aging, showcasing its Cognac heritage.
Palate: The entry is remarkably smooth and luscious, immediately coating the palate with a luxurious texture. Flavors of ripe stone fruit, particularly peach and plum, unfold gracefully. This is swiftly followed by a harmonious interplay of dark honey, crème brûlée, and a gentle nuttiness – walnuts and hazelnuts. The oak influence is beautifully balanced, providing structure without overwhelming, characterized by hints of cedar and a subtle, sweet tobacco. There’s a refined warmth that spreads across the tongue, a testament to its careful distillation and aging.
Finish: Long, elegant, and contemplative. The finish lingers with echoes of dried fruit and warm spices, especially cinnamon and a faint clove. A delicate sweetness persists, reminiscent of dark chocolate and caramel, accompanied by a pleasingly dry, tannic grip that cleanses the palate. The characteristic Cognac 'rancio' note develops further, offering an intricate interplay of leather and old wood, leaving a memorable, complex aftertaste that invites another sip.
