Condition notes: Tax ship discolored from previous minor leak
One Pint Distilled in the spring of 1916 and bottled under medicinal permit in the autumn of 1930, this 14-year-old whiskey represents an ultra-rare survivor of the Prohibition era. Crafted by A. Ph. Stitzel years before the opening of the legendary Stitzel-Weller distillery, it offers an unrepeatable time capsule of pre-Volstead Kentucky distillation bottled at a robust 100 proof. Each pour delivers extraordinary depth, marked by over a decade of maturation in prime vintage oak.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich antique mahogany, dried black mission figs, pipe tobacco, and deeply caramelized toffee, underpinned by dusty leather, candied citrus peel, and warm baking spices.
Palate: Dense and viscous on the palate, opening with blackstrap molasses, dark cacao, brandied cherries, and seasoned oak tannins, followed by layers of clove, cracked pepper, and herbal mint.
Finish: Exceptionally long and meditative, lingering with notes of cedar humidor, roasted espresso bean, soft vanilla pod, and dry, antique wood spice.
