Description:

This is a single barrel picked by Jews and Booze. It is a 4 year, 8 month MGP straight rye, with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, that had recharred oak staves from a used barrel added to finish for an additional 6 months.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: lemon, burnt sugar and big herbal notes. Palate: This one starts out with a burst of mint and oregano, followed by the classic rye sweetness seen in MGP ryes. It takes a sharp turn in the back of the palate where barrel char predominates, accompanied by acidic notes of lemon and pomegranate molasses. Finish: The flavors hang out for a while and are backed primarily by charred oak notes.
