This 128.9 proof powerhouse delivers an unadulterated symphony of classic Old Forester character, amplified to its most potent and complex form.

Tasting Notes

Nose: A profound and inviting bouquet immediately asserts itself, showcasing a dominant interplay of rich caramel and toasted sugar, evolving into deeper notes of dark cherry and dried fig. Hints of warm baking spices — cinnamon, nutmeg, and a whisper of clove — mingle with a distinct orange peel zest and a nuanced leathery tobacco undertone. The high proof is present but well-integrated, suggesting a robust yet balanced aromatic experience.

Palate: The entry is remarkably full-bodied and intense, delivering an initial wave of sweet, charred oak and a burst of dark fruit compote – blackberry and plum. This swiftly transitions to a vibrant spiciness, with black pepper and red pepper flake dancing alongside a sweet, chewy caramel and vanilla bean. A distinct nutty character, perhaps toasted pecans or almonds, emerges, complemented by a hint of dark chocolate and a pleasant, oily texture that coats the entire mouth. The 128.9 proof provides a substantial warmth without being overwhelmingly hot, indicating excellent barrel selection.

Finish: A long, lingering, and ultimately satisfying finish. Sweet oak tannins and residual spice persist, gently fading to notes of worn leather and a final, sweet kiss of crème brûlée and roasted coffee bean. The warmth slowly recedes, leaving a pleasant drying sensation and a memorable echo of dark fruit and spice that invites another sip. The complexity of the palate carries through to the very end.

https://takeyourpickliquors.com/products/2026-old-forester-single-barrel-barrel-strength-jack-rose-dc-2026-128-9-proof-750ml
