This rare and exquisite whisky, presented in a beautifully designed bottle celebrating the Lunar New Year, offers a deep, multi-layered experience. Each sip reveals a symphony of sweet oak, dried fruits, and a characteristic subtle smokiness, culminating in an enduring, velvety finish.

Tasting Notes

Nose: A sophisticated tapestry of aromas unfolds, led by soft, sweet oak and delicate vanilla, interwoven with whispers of dried fruits like raisins and figs. Subtle hints of spice, perhaps a touch of ginger or nutmeg, emerge alongside a faint, alluring smokiness, characteristic of some older Speyside malts in the blend. A delicate floral note and a distant nutty character add complexity.

Palate: The initial impression is incredibly smooth and velvety, coating the mouth with a luxurious texture. Sweetness from honey and caramel is perfectly balanced by dried fruit richness – plum, cherry, and apricot. Layers of toasted nuts, dark chocolate, and a gentle wood spice (cinnamon, allspice) follow. The characteristic gentle Johnnie Walker smoke is present but perfectly integrated, adding depth without overpowering. A subtle malty sweetness and a hint of citrus zest complete the harmonious profile.

Finish: Long, warm, and lingering, the finish elegantly extends the palate's complexities. Sweetness slowly fades, giving way to persistent oak, a gentle whisper of smoke, and dark fruit notes. A dry, slightly spicy warmth gently dissipates, leaving a refined and memorable impression of sophistication and balance.

https://takeyourpickliquors.com/products/2020-johnnie-walker-blue-label-year-of-the-rat-80-proof-1-0-liter
