Underlying layers reveal vanilla bean, toasted oak, a hint of white pepper, and a subtle mineral earthiness. As it opens, stone fruit like apricot and ripe pear emerge, underscored by a faint brininess.

Palate: A powerful, yet incredibly balanced, entry. The peat immediately presents as a refined, maritime smoke rather than medicinal, quickly followed by a rush of sweet vanilla and caramel from the bourbon barrels. Fruit notes abound – green apple, dried apricot, and a touch of red berry from the wine casks. The high proof delivers a warm, expansive mouthfeel, showcasing spicy undertones of ginger, nutmeg, and a delicate nuttiness. A distinct dark chocolate bitterness emerges, balancing the sweetness.

Finish: Long, warming, and complex. The lingering peat smoke transforms into a gentle campfire ember, gracefully fading with notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and dried fruit. A final whisper of spicy oak and a satisfying oiliness persist, inviting another sip.

https://takeyourpickliquors.com/products/2020-chichibu-us-edition-distillery-ichiros-malt-peated-111-proof-750ml-1
