Bottled exclusively for Grommes & Ullrich, Inc., this Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey represents an era of unparalleled craftsmanship. Its deep mahogany hue and complex aroma invite you to savor a taste profile rich in aged oak, dark fruit, and a whisper of timeless elegance.

Tasting Notes

Nose: A remarkably complex and deep aroma, immediately revealing layers of well-aged oak, sweet molasses, and dried dark fruits like figs and dates. Subtle hints of old leather, pipe tobacco, and faint baking spices—cinnamon, nutmeg, and a whisper of clove—emerge, intertwined with a distinct musty, earthy note indicative of decades spent in cask. A delicate, underlying sweetness of crème brûlée and candied orange peel rounds out the bouquet.

Palate: The entry is surprisingly soft and velvety, quickly expanding to a rich, full-bodied experience. A burst of caramel and butterscotch is met by a robust oak presence, not overpowering but beautifully integrated, imparting notes of dark chocolate and roasted nuts. Stewed cherries, dried apricots, and a lingering sweetness of brown sugar develop mid-palate, complemented by a gentle, peppery spice that awakens the senses. The proof, though unknown, feels perfectly balanced, allowing the myriad of flavors to shine without harshness.

Finish: An exceptionally long and evolving finish that speaks to its age and quality. The warmth spreads slowly, leaving behind echoes of sweet tobacco, worn leather, and dark fruit compote. A persistent dry oakiness is perfectly balanced by a fading hint of vanilla and a delicate, lingering spice, inviting contemplation and another sip. It’s a clean yet profoundly complex farewell, echoing its rich history.

https://takeyourpickliquors.com/products/1967-grommes-ullrich-pre-war-black-label-kentucky-straight-bourbon-whiskey-84-proof-4-5-quart-84-proof-757ml
